Mindfulness Meditation

Take hold of your mind using M.B.C.T (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) for coping with depression/anxiety/stress.

MBCT has been developed as an extension of the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn and is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (N.I.C.E)

Pebbles on beachMBCT has been used intensively with those who have suffered from depression as a proven prevention of relapse.

MBCT differs from Cognitive Therapy, which aims to change thoughts and feelings and is carried out in a focussed, one-to-one therapeutic setting. Alternatively, MBCT emphasises holding thoughts and feeling in awareness, rather than trying to change them and helps people build their own strategies for staying well. This involves becoming more aware of patterns of thought and feeling and bring about a different way of relating to experience with a mode of letting things be as they are, allowing the opportunity to see more clearly of how best to respond.

“If you learn how to be open to thoughts and feelings and not try to shut them off or change them, you can then taste a degree of freedom, where you are not necessarily plagued by obsessive or difficult thoughts because you know they are just bubbles in the stream of thought, and they are not reality.”…….. Jon Kabat-Zinn, Therapy Today.

MeditationMindfulness has been practiced for centuries and nowadays is practiced in a variety of settings – hospitals, schools, prisons, palliative care and corporate business
